Introduction to Basic Electronic Components

Resistor

The function of resistors is to limit the speed of electron flow i.e. current. Think of them as speed breakers; resistors function similarly to control the flow of electric current.

Types of Resistors

Capacitor

A capacitor stores electric energy when connected to a power source. When the power source is disconnected, the charges on its plates are released, acting like a mini battery.

Diode

Diodes are semiconductor devices that allow the flow of electric current in only one direction and block the other. They are made by joining P-Type and N-Type semiconductors.

Inductor

An inductor is a passive electrical component that stores energy in a magnetic field when electric current flows through it. Inductors are also called coils, chokes, or reactors.

Transistor

Transistors are fundamental components that play a crucial role in amplifying and controlling electrical signals. They are often called the “building blocks” of modern electronics.
